Before applying for a visa you need to obtain official recognition of your professional qualification from the competent German authorities. Information about the procedures can be found on www.anerkennung-in-deutschland.de.

As soon as you have the recognition you can apply for a Visa after setting an appointment by e-mail. Please attach all listed documents to your e-mail. After checking the completion, you will be assigned an appointment.

At the time of your visa appointment you have to submit the following documents in person (original plus one copy):

• completed and signed application form for a long-term visa
• 1 recent passport photograph
• your national passport
• residence permit for Portugal
• visa fee 75,- Euros
• proof of health insurance
• proof of your professional qualification
• official recognition of your qualification from the competent German authority
• Employment contract or intention to hire, including salary, working hours, vacation etc.
• filled in form “declaration of employment Agreement” (Erklärung zum Beschäftigungsverhältnis) from the Federal Employment Agency
