If your German residence title got lost or stolen during a stay in Portugal, please follow the guideline below:

1.  Go to the Portuguese police to file a police report on the loss or theft of the document.
2.  Do you still have the passport issued by your home country? Then please continue with step 4.
3.  If not, your first need to contact the embassy of your home country to get a new passport.
4.  Please check with your airline, whether you can return to Germany with your passport and the police report.
5. If this is not the case, please contact the embassy Lisbon. The embassy can – after receiving confirmation from the Ausländerbehörde that issued the residence title – issue a consular certificate confirming your right of residence in Germany. The consular certificate is subject to a charge.
