If you wish to join family in Germany, you can apply for a family reunion visa after setting an appointment via e-mail. Please attach all listed documents to your e-mail. After checking the completion you will be assigned an Appointment.

At the time of your visa appointment you have to submit the following documents in person (original plus one copy):

• completed and signed application form for a long-term visa
• 1 recent passport photograph
• your national passport
• residence permit for Portugal
• proof of health insurance
• registration of residency of your family member in Germany (Meldebescheinigung)
• passport and (if applicable) residence permit of your family member (no originals needed)
• visa fee 75,- Euros

Spouses

• proof of basic German language skills (A1 Certificate) - for more information
• marriage certificate

Fiancés

• proof of basic German language skills (A1 Certificate) - for more information
• registration for marriage in Germany (Certificate as under §13 Abs. 4 PStG)
• formal sponsor letter (Verpflichtungserklärung)

Children

• child’s birth certificate / proof of pregnancy and estimated date of birth
• proof of parenthood: parent’s marriage certificate / recognition of paternity / adoption decree
• proof of child custody: parent’s marriage certificate / declaration of custody /decree on custody

Please note that in individual cases additional documents can be required.
